You are invited to harness your creativity and show us a window into your world as the ‘new normal’ emerges.
Judges looking for emotional and inspiring, still  and moving images
that capture the world as you see it, not technical skill. The judges’ decision will be final.

Send us your images and links to videos in the specified format via the feast email thefeastfest@gmail.com. Please see the rules.

Feast Festival 50-word Short Story
Writing competition

Theme: Emerging
Deadline Extension 10th of September

 Let your mind run free for 50 words. We are looking for entries for a short story on the Theme “Emerging”.
The story must be completed in fifty words or less and should not have been previously published.  
We will be publishing the entries as a printed book which will be for sale
in the village. As a winner you will receive one of the first copies off the press suitably inscribed with your name and achievement.
You will also get to read your story on Red Kite Radio.
The closing date for entries is 6th September 2020.
We are looking for entries that reflect your experience of Emerging from ‘lockdown”. Watch our facebook page for some ideas over the next few weeks.

Our covid 19 secure events are moving ONLINE.

The Jazz in the Orchard event will be pre-recorded without an audience and will be available on Haddenham Feast Festival Youtube at the original advertised time 5pm on 18th September and the audio version on Red Kite radio from 6-7pm.
Why not settle down at home with your picnic and watch or listen.

As hinted in our previous post we have an alternative to our Giant Parade.

Please keep making those giants and be prepared to show them to the public by displaying them in front gardens from 17th September until 21st September.

MAKE YOUR OWN GIANT

To create your own Giant follow the tutorial below or download printable version of the step by step guide 

Things you will need

·    a balloon

·     PVA or weak glue,

·     newspaper (lots of), paints,

·     an old plastic waste water pipe ( or simila light pole)

·     old long curtain material/ blanket or similar, 

·     wool for beard & hair, strong tape.

STEP 1

Blow up a balloon…as big as possible and cover with newspaper soaked in a solution of glue and water. Allow to dry

Shape the face with more soaked newspaper
and allow to dry – make a helmet by covering
just half a balloon

Paint your finished head…. Get creative

Cut lengths of wool and glue onto your head to make hair and beard. Make ‘shoulders’ with a short bit of pipe or wood, bound with gaffer tape or similar.

Make sure the balloon has burst and make an opening at the base. Push pole into the head cavity and drape with an old curtain or blanket.

You Are Ready :) 

Bring your Giant to the Feast Festival 2020 Village Parade. We’ll march from Church End to Village Hall. Follow HADDER the mythical Saxon Giant who founded the village
